Recipe For The Month Of September
Spinach-Cheese Bread (pg.34)
What You Need:
1 package J. B. Dough Classic White Bread Mix
2 tablespoons butter
1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
1 10-ounce package frozen spinach, cooked, drained
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon basil
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon water
Grated Parmesan cheese to taste
Prepare bread mix following J. B. Dough package instructions. Set your machine on the dough mode or on the manual setting.
Remove dough from bread machine. Roll into rectangle on lightly floured surface.
Microwave butter and garlic in microwave-safe dish for 30 seconds or until butter melts. Drizzle butter mixture over dough. Spread with mixture of spinach and Parmesan cheese; sprinkle with onion powder and basil. Roll as for jelly roll, sealing edge. Cut roll lengthwise with sharp knife or scissors forming 2 strips; turn filling side up. Twist strips together loosely.
Coil strip into circle, turning end under. Transfer with spatula to greased spring form pan; dough does not touch edge of pan. Brush with mixture of egg and water: sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Let rise in warm place for 1 hour. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until brown. Makes 1 loaf.
